Has any one ever had problems with daddy saying you baby ur son too much?

my son is 3 i don't wait on him hand and foot i make him put away his own dishes ,help clean his room ,put away his dirty clothes ,keep his shoes and toys in their proper places things of this nature but i love on him alot i still talk in a cute lil voice to him sometimes now i did say sometimes i tell him when he's a big boy when he does big boy things but yesterday at daycare another lil boy hit my son in the head with a babydoll and gave him a really big knot when he was younger he woulda hit this lil boy back but now that he's older he's learned that hitting has consequinces and that you can possibly get in trouble for fighting bcuz he did't the boy back his dad says i'm making him soft and i baby him tooooooooo much he is my baby and will be no matter what as a mom we bond differently and earlier with a child as we are the 1's carrying them for 9 months i've tried explaining this to his dad and it does no good i don't feel i'm babying him i feel im just being his mommy his dad dosen't want him to just beat up ppl but dosn't wnat him to be bullied either he wants him to not b scared to stick up for his self just to clarify that his dad says don't baby him he's a man no he's 3 and yes one day he will be a man but yet still my baby how do i get his dad to understand this ??? thanks for all the advice !!!!
