Need general info on baseboard radiant heating and boilers??

I had electric baseboard heating when I bought my house. The area next to the heater was too hot and the far side of the room was too cold. My electric bill was out of sight. I got rid of the baseboard and installed central heat and air for less than 10,000$ and it does much better and much cheaper 2000sq ft built 1967. There was no problem with the carpet, and the heaters were well shielded from contact with ds and children.
